nintendo sets us straight.

so this was a big week in the world of portable gaming. nintendo has officially confirmed that the product design displayed at this year's E3 show was not the final design, and the new design is actually something you would expect from a next generation handheld device. This design seems to be "futurish" enough without appearing as fragile as the sony design.

what this means - the DS wont appear as toyish as everyone fears, and the design of the product also confirms the speculation that the device will retail in the $149 range - well below the price of Sony's PSP.

One makes you wonder if the original design of the DS was based off of the old game & watch products by Nintendo.

Oh yeah, the DS is the final name for the DS and it looks like the release date will be 11/7 and 11/11 in the US and Japan. According to this report, it launches in the US first, but this is likely an error.

In even better news, you can pre-order it now
